“Mounds” is a commissioned installation for the “Michigan Legacy Art Park”, Thompsonville, Michigan. The design is based on prehistoric mounds found throughout Michigan. These mounds were built by an unknown civilization that lived in the area before the arrival of Native Americans and White settlers. “Mounds” is a cross-section replica of a prehistoric burial mound. Designs of bones are cast along the inner concrete wall. The wall is placed within a mound of dirt. The shape and size of the wall fits a human body, as the viewer is meant to lay on the ground inside the concrete wall. |
